What you wear can add to the style of photography you see. I typically recommend wearing light or neutral colors (white, ivory, blues, pinks, navy). These colors always photograph beautifully and help you achieve the style you see throughout my portfolio. Depending on the number of people in your family, I recommend 1 or 2 people in patterns. The goal is to coordinate through the colors each of you are wearing. You can visit my Pinterest board for more ideas for your family - Newborn: “What to wear”.

What should I wear?

Maternity sessions take place between 28-34 weeks. I try to do them before the last month of your pregnancy for several reasons. We can make sure we get the session done in the event your little one decides to make an early appearance, plus that last month can be a bit uncomfortable. Doing the maternity session between 28-34 weeks allows you to still feel like yourself and have that beautiful pregnancy glow.

Why lifestyle, in-home?

In-home, lifestyle sessions allow you to stay in the comfort of your own home. Your baby is most comfortable here and you have anything you might need without having to pack up all the things. This allows you (the mom) to feed in the comfort of your home if you need to. I find older siblings are more relaxed in their space as well, and we are able to incorporate special pieces from your home in the photos.

I am a natural light, lifestyle photographer. This means I use the natural elements of your home or location of your session. I love to use simple bows, hats and the decor of your home for newborn sessions that you might already have. Meaning the nursery, that gorgeous rug, or even a pretty piece of furniture. For portrait sessions, we utilize the natural elements of our location.

Do you bring props?

Newborn sessions typically book at least 3 months in advance. When you book, we tentatively have a date scheduled within 2-8 weeks of your due date. I prefer to do a newborn session within the first 3-8 weeks after your baby is born. That being said, if you would like to wait a little bit once baby arrives, I am happy to do that as well!

Newborn sessions are scheduled during the week on Tuesday and Thursday. Please reach out if you have questions with scheduling conflicts.
